Health and Safety General Statement
It is this company's intention that its work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions in particular 'The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974' and all reasonable practicable measures taken to avoid risk to its employees or others who may be affected. It is the declared policy of the company that we will ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, consultants, and other visitors on site and Head Office.
The company will ensure that all internal and external plant and equipment will be kept in a good condition, regularly checked and serviced and suitable for its intended use. All employees and subcontractors staff will be adequately trained or assessed before using the plant.
Materials for use on site will be provided with COSHH data sheets prior to their use on site. The materials will be transported adequately stored and used in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
All employees receive induction training and a copy of the company's training manual at commencement of their employment and are assessed regularly to ensure that they are competent to carry out the tasks they have been allocated. Refresher training is carried out every six months. Staff meetings are held to inform the staff of changes and implementation of the Health and Safety Regulations. Toolbox talks are held on site prior to tasks being carried out and the site manager will ensure that the staff fully understands and are competent to carry out the tasks.
The company will complete a Health and Safety Plan on each contract. Known hazards will be documented ;safe site access will be maintained; warning notices will be displayed; and barriers, hoarding, etc. will be erected as considered necessary to ensure the safety of site personnel visitors and the public. The Health and Safety Plan will be available on site and it is the site manager's responsibility to ensure that all personnel have read and understands the Policy.
The Health and Safety Policy will be reviewed and updated when there are changes in the procedures.
All staff will be made aware of their personal responsibilities in ensuring safe working practices to safeguard the Health and Safety of themselves and others and to remind them of the legal penalties that they could incur due to infringement of the regulations.
Management and supervisory staff have the responsibility for implementing this policy throughout the Company and must ensure that health and safety considerations are always given priority in planning and day-to-day supervision of work.
All employees and sub-contractors are expected to co-operate with the Company in carrying out this policy and must ensure that their own work, so far as is reasonably practicable, is carried out without risk to themselves or others.
The company welcomes comments and suggestions from employees and subcontractors on matters relating to Health and Safety.
